3AW: Consumer group calls for no costs to receive paper statements
A consumer group is advocating for the right to choose how we receive bills and statements and will protest tomorrow at Parliament House in Canberra.
Kellie Northwood, Executive Director of the ‘Keep Me Posted’ campaign told Tom Elliott that despite hard costs for postage, there should be no charge for people who choose to receive their paper statements in the mail rather than digitally.
“We’re not anti-digital…if you prefer to receive it via the mail or paper-based then that should be freedom of choice,” she said.
Tom Elliott argued older Australians are just as capable as using technology as everybody else. “What I don’t like is this assumption that older Australians are simply unable to understand or deal with modern technology. That is not my experience.”
Keep Me Posted will launch their protest tomorrow at 10.00am at Parliament House in Canberra.
